Don't Stop Me if You've Heard These

Proverbs... Platitudes... "The Moral of the Story"... All designed to teach us a lesson, but did you ever notice that they're sometimes quite conflicting? Things like. . . . . Actions speak
louder than words. Look before
you leap. Many hands
make light work. A silent
man is a wise one. Clothes make
the man. It's the
squeaky wheel that gets the grease. Beware of
Greeks bearing gifts. Nothing ventured,
nothing gained. Absence makes
the heart grow fonder. You can't
teach an old dog new tricks. Two wrongs
don't make a right. He who hesitates
is lost. You can't
judge a book by its cover. Birds of
a feather flock together. Ask no questions
and hear no lies. Variety is
the spice of life. The pen is
mightier than the sword. Don't cross
the bridge until you come to it. Silence is
golden. Clothes make
the man. The best
things come in small packages. A miss is
as good as a mile. An old fox
is not easily snared. Practice
makes perfect. If you lie
down with dogs, you'll get up with fleas. A bird in
the hand is worth two in the bush. There's safety
in numbers. If at first
you don't succeed, try, try again. Hold fast
to the words of your ancestors. |
